Mince pie vodka

Once again subscribing here to the Joey Tribiani theory of ‘what’s not to like?’…

My brief here to myself was to make a warming Christmas drink that we could enjoy here in front of the fire in place of Sherry which to be honest, has never really been my thing.

Christmas mince pies… Mmmmm…

Vodka… Mmmmm…

Combine the two? Surely this will work?!

Take a 2 L Kilner jar, and fill with the following ingredients. Place in a darkened cupboard for a minimum of two weeks, shaking daily. Drain through fine muslin and bottle! And don’t forget, that you can use the fruit to make fabulously boozy mince pies!

Ingredients:

500g dried mixed fruit

1 inch of sugar in the jar
The peel of one lemon and one Satsuma. Use a peeler so that you add as little of the white pith as possible

2 cinnamon sticks

One heaped teaspoon of mixed spice

A shot glass full of Amaretto

1.5l vodka

This was a total triumph, I have already been asked to go into mass production!

Enjoy! X
