Inspired by something I saw on tv last week, I wanted to create some post Christmas (healthy) treats for my hounds that were free from additives, preservatives, or artificial colours and flavourings.
This is my first attempt, I would say pretty successful if my taste testers are anything to go by.
Ingredients:
350g plain flour
One free range egg from the girls next door
Handful of fresh chopped parsley from the garden (good for their breath)
150ml homemade stock, not from a cube (too salty). Mine was made from the turkey giblets which were dinner for them last night…
Method:
Sieve flour and mix everything together to form a stiff dough. Knead for a good few minutes then roll to about 1cm thick and cut into a variety of shapes.
The recipe here made me two dozen stars and hearts.
Place onto a baking sheet lined with grease proof paper and bake at 190 degrees for 20-25 minutes until just golden.
Allow to cool before serving! Store in an airtight tin.
These won’t last long… My four legged children went absolutely mad for them!
